We bring our whole school together through performance.
Staff lead by example, pupils lead with confidence, and the community grows through shared experience.
STAFF PANTOMIME
Our annual staff pantomime is a key event in the Bellahouston Academy calendar. It brings together pupils, staff and the wider school community in a shared experience that celebrates creativity, humour and teamwork. This year’s production features a cast of 20 staff from across the school, including members of the Senior Leadership Team through to our janitorial team. It reflects the strong relationships across the school and shows pupils that staff are fully invested in the life of the school.
The production is supported by a dedicated team behind the scenes. Around 10 staff lead our front of house operation, ensuring that every audience member is welcomed and supported. Alongside this, over 20 pupil leaders and members of the technical crew take on key roles in lighting, sound, staging and event management. This provides meaningful leadership opportunities and allows pupils to apply their skills in a real context.
Across three performances, the pantomime is attended by over 600 pupils. These performances form part of our wider approach to recognising and rewarding positive behaviour. Pupils who have demonstrated strong engagement in school life, including those recognised through our merit and life and ethos systems, are invited to attend. This ensures the event is not only entertaining but also reinforces high expectations and positive contribution.
The staff pantomime strongly reflects our school values. It builds a sense of belonging by bringing the whole school together. It supports growth by giving pupils and staff the opportunity to step outside their comfort zone. It promotes respect through collaboration and shared experience. It celebrates achievement in both performance and contribution behind the scenes. It encourages aspiration by showing what can be achieved through commitment and teamwork.
This event continues to be a highlight of the school year. It strengthens relationships, builds community and creates a shared memory for pupils and staff alike.
