WE LOVE GREAT PARTNERSHIPS
At Bellahouston Academy, we are proud to have established a dynamic partnership with the National Theatre of Scotland (NTS), reflecting our commitment to providing enriching, real-world experiences in the performing arts. Over the past two years, our school has had the unique opportunity to pilot NTS's national school touring residencies, serving as the inaugural venue for their innovative productions before they tour across the country.
The first of these collaborations was Like Flying, an immersive aerial theatre project directed by Nic Green in partnership with All or Nothing Aerial Dance Theatre. This production invited our pupils to engage in aerial performance techniques, exploring themes of mental health and self-expression. The experience not only introduced students to new forms of physical theatre but also provided a platform for them to reflect on their personal growth and resilience.
Following this, we hosted Thank U, Next, a high-energy, multimedia dance theatre piece created by 21Common and directed by Lucy Gaizely and Gary Gardiner. This production delved into contemporary youth culture, exploring identity through the lens of cosplay and digital personas. Our students collaborated with professional artists, contributing to a performance that resonated with their experiences and perspectives.
These partnerships underscore our belief in the importance of collaboration with professional arts organizations. By integrating such projects into our curriculum, we provide students with unparalleled opportunities to engage with the arts in meaningful ways, fostering creativity, confidence, and a deeper understanding of the world around them. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with the National Theatre of Scotland, bringing transformative artistic experiences to our school community.
We are always keen to work with organisations who share our core values and are keen to bring both empowering and challenging projects that will have a real, meaningful and lasting impact on the young people of Bellahouston Academy.
