Bellahouston Academy will present Mamma Mia! from 15 to 17 June 2027.

Following the success of our recent productions, we are taking the Bella School Show to its next stage. For the first time, we will perform across three nights. Mamma Mia! will be our biggest and most ambitious school production yet. We are transforming the hall into a Greek island taverna, with a new set, themed seating and an atmosphere that begins as soon as the audience arrives. On stage, expect a large cast, energetic choreography and some of the best-known songs in musical theatre.

Principal Cast Auditions

Auditions for principal roles will take place during September. We aim to confirm the principal cast before the October holidays, giving performers plenty of time to prepare for the production.

Principal auditions will be open to pupils in S3 to S6.

The leading roles require pupils to manage substantial dialogue, solo singing, harmony work and choreography. Principal cast members must also commit to additional rehearsals and an intensive rehearsal schedule in the weeks before the show. Limiting these roles to S3 to S6 reflects the level of responsibility, independence and sustained preparation involved.

No-Audition Ensemble

S1 and S2 pupils can still take part in Mamma Mia! as members of the ensemble. The ensemble is open to pupils from every year group, from S1 to S6. No audition is required. Pupils simply need to sign up and commit to rehearsals. Ensemble registration will open in February, following the same process as previous school shows. More information will be shared with pupils and families nearer the time.

Support Our Production

Sponsorship opportunities for local businesses will be announced soon. These will offer businesses the chance to support a major school and community event while promoting their work to our audiences.

Donations

We are also looking for donations of furniture, decorations and other items to help create our Greek taverna setting. Please see the image below for our current wish list.

Mamma Mia! will be loud, joyful and full of energy. We cannot wait to welcome pupils, families, staff and our wider community to the island in June.
